Noticing the things that truly matter

Just a couple of weeks ago, I met someone for a cup of coffee. We planned to meet inside a coffee shop but indoor slurping was closed. It wasn’t closed for germs like the past year though. It was closed because the manager could not get enough workers (that’s what the sign said anyway). Even so, I was able to get my coffee and have my meeting.

Someone from the outdoor table next to me also had a meeting. Before he let the meeting begin, before the business part, he said that he had to pause and say how much he missed seeing people face to face. He missed it at work. He missed it with his friends. He was so happy to get back and see real live people.

We are a little ways into our getting into our lives and meetings and outings now. In all areas of life (church life included….well, ALL included actually) we will not do things exactly as we did before. We are noticing the important things now. We are noticing the core, the sweeter central portions of things. Seeing each other, laughing together and letting conversations wander as they do…these are the things we have missed. We now have so many opportunities for the grace of God in our lives.

We know, we very clearly know, that the world around us needs the love of Christ in us. The world, near and far, desperately needs God’s Good and Gracious News lived out through us now.

This is true always, but let this be brightly true in our actions in this season: “…be humble and gentle. Be patient with one another, making room for each other’s faults because of your love.” ~Ephesians 4:2

We now celebrate the birth of this wonderous country. We celebrate our freedom and ask God’s blessings to help us to live up to our rich and wonderful ideals. As followers of Jesus, thankful for our freedom, we are reminded that we …“have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” ~Galatians 5:13

May God BLESS YOU…to be a blessing right now in this world that needs God’s blessing through you!

In Christ,

Rhodie
