Mission Scholarship

We are proud to announce the creation of the John Schevenius Mission Scholarship,  which can provides funds for short term domestic or foreign mission trips or projects.

John and his family served as missionaries to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in southern Africa under The United Methodist Church Board of Missions from 1955-1975. A civil engineer, John was involved in building homes, churches, schools and hospitals.  He was also a school principal and head of evangelism. After the war ended in Zimbabwe, he returned to help rebuild missions.

John passed away on December 4, 2018.  This scholarship is sponsored by Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church in the hopes that others can also experience the rewards of service to God and others as John did.

The scholarship is for members of Normandale Hylands UMC and will pay up to one-third of the cost of the trip. Please refer to the application posted below for details on applying. Download the application and return it to the church office, Attn: Missions Team.
