JOB TITLE: Church Organist/Pianist (part-time)

Responsibilities Play the organ for one Sunday morning service
Play the Piano for “Blended” services (one per month)
Play the organ for special religious services (Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, etc.)
Select and play selections for the prelude and postlude
Play the organ at Chancel Choir rehearsals, and if requested, Handbell rehearsals
Play extra rehearsals with soloists, choir
Help with 1-2 extra Cantata Sectionals each year
Coordinate rehearsal with summer “Special Music”
Play the organ at weddings and funerals
Perform other duties as requested
Secure a proficient replacement when absent
Learn the basics of the Sound System
Learn the use of the Carillon System
A weekly practice time is expected and should be scheduled with the office.
Accompany the Cherub choir on Sunday mornings
REQUIRED SKILLS
Strong musicianship, good organ skills, experience and a team spirit. In addition to technical aptitude, you will need the flexibility to embrace a wide variety of musical styles, ingenuity and improvisation.

Assist annual planning sessions for goal setting, scheduling, etc.
