From the Pastor: A New Year

Happy New Year!

As we enter into 2017, some are sad to see 2016 go. Some welcome the New Year with excitement and anticipation. Some have grief and some have very exciting things coming.

Full of wisdom and guided by the Holy Spirit, the Bible tells us that we belong to one another, that “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” (1 Corinthians) We do belong to one another. We suffer and we rejoice and we will have much ahead.

The world is and will be filled with joy and with sorrow—and everything in between. Some people will go it alone, some will reach out.

You and I choose Christ. We choose to share our joys in Christ because we recognize that He is the source of our joy. We choose to take our sorrows to Jesus, to find strength and consolation in Him and in one another.

As we enter into this New Year, you and I are a part of (not just something…and not just something very good but…) Someone. We are a part of Someone wonderful and, “if anyone is in Christ, New Creation!” (2 Corinthians 5:17) All of creation is blessed because you choose to be in Christ. Not only are your troubles blessed. Not only are your joys and triumphs enriched. The world is blessed through you: New Creation!

May you be blessed through this coming year.  We will have surprises ahead! We will have such joys, and we will have some tough things. Through it all, we will have one another and we will have each other in Christ. I am so thankful for you! I thank God for you and what we will share together!

Happy New Year!

In Christ,

Rhodie
