From the Pastor: The Fullness of God’s Love

If you were in worship on one very special Sunday, you would have seen this big “Finish Line” sign up front. The Joy Choir blessed us wonderfully and faithfully with music around the theme of running the race: “Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.” (Hebrews 12:1) It was wonderful!

As I looked on the sign, positioned before the cross as it was, it occurred to me that this is the way it used to be. The finish line, our finish line WAS death. It WAS the cross. Then God grabbed a hold of that terrible cross…

…and…

…made it …beautiful. God made it our blessing!

Now, we fix our eyes on the One who went right onto that cross for us, and we find that there is something beyond. The cross or death or any one thing you dread is not the finish for you. There are blessings abounding. There is life with God.

And if that were not even enough (and it is), but God wants you to enjoy the blessings now! Jesus said, “”The time has come, the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the good news!” (Mark 1:15) We do not have to wait to enjoy the finish line goodies. We can enjoy the fullness of God’s love right now.

God took a hold of the cross, took a hold of the finish line, took a hold of death itself and turned it. God gives us good even through it all. If God CAN do that with the cross and since God DOES chose to do that with the cross, just imagine what God can and will do for any cross in your life.

Well, better than imagine, let’s live into that together and let’s share this Good News!

Your Brother in Christ,

Rhodie
