CONSTRUCTION CORNER     

Construction on the front parking lot at Normandale Hylands UMC is well underway.  While the improved and enlarged parking area will be appreciated by all who use it, we are dealing with noise, dust, and disruption in the meantime.  We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we work to finish this phase of our renovation and expansion project.

The new asphalt surface will be installed sometime between August 13 and August 19, 2008, depending upon the weather and other variables.  Because of the warm summer temperatures, the asphalt surface will be somewhat soft for a few weeks until it has fully cured.  During this time, we will need your help and cooperation to protect the new surface.  We have been asked to be very careful to not turn the wheels of our vehicles while staying in place.  Turning wheels while not in motion will cause scarring and scraping of the asphalt and leave tire-sized indentations which will hold water.  This could result in significant pothole damage due to freezing and thawing cycles in the future. 

If tires are turned while a vehicle is moving, this is less of a problem.  Your attention to this issue is greatly appreciated and will help to avoid potential repairs and additional expense in years to come.
